Diving and snorkeling

Gozo is one of the most popular diving sites in the Mediterranean, offering plenty of diving opportunities for both beginners and more experienced divers. The sea is usually calm, the visibility is excellent and the sea temperature never drops below 13 ° C. There are plenty of places on the mainland of the island where you can start a dive, so there is no need to go to sea. One of the most popular diving spots is Blue Hole in Dejra Bay, which boasts an underwater arch leading to the open sea. You can also dive around Xlendi, Ta ’Cenc, Marsalforn or around Mġarr ix-Xini.

A very popular area is the entire north coast with many underwater caves.

You can find a list of registered diving centers on the official tourist website visitgozo.com.

What are the prices?

Beginner school: EUR 60 per hour and dive (usually 3 dives)

The whole Scuba Diving course: approx. 300 EUR

In addition to diving, Gozo offers many more snorkelling opportunities. You can put on goggles, snorkels and fins virtually anywhere there is access to the sea and will never leave disappointed. The best places are narrow rugged bays, led by Wied il-Ghasri or the bay near the town of Xlendi. Snorkelling equipment can be bought for up to EUR 20 in beach shops or city centers.ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Kayaking

Kayaking is most popular experience on Gozo. You can rent a kayak or use kayaking tours agency to enjoy a half day or full day tours with guide. Tours are for beginners, as well as special tours for large groups.

One of the most popular routes involves a circular tour from a southern part of the island of Gozo, around the smaller, uninhabited island of Comino, and back to base. This tour takes you across open seas as you navigate the Comino/Gozo Channel. Once you start circumnavigating Comino, you’ll experience one of the most spectacular coastal areas in the Maltese archipelago, with the pièce de résistance being the Blue Lagoon – an astonishing natural lagoon formed between Comino and some minor Islands. The lagoon is known for its aquamarine seas, stunning cliffs, and myriad of caves.

Other popular tours include a coastal trip around the South of the Island of Gozo, where kayakers experience shallow seas so clear that marine life can easily be spotted, as well as reefs, cliffs, and stunning views.

If the South of the island is known for its craggy cliffs, the North’s claim to fame is the multitude of sandy bays and green valleys. Kayakers touring this side of the island should not miss the opportunity to cross Ramla Bay – a beautiful red-sand beach at the mouth of a stunning valley. This part of the island also offers great snorkelling opportunities, so make sure to bring along your diving gear.
